L's day
Since E and B got to go on the segway tour yesterday, we thought it was only fair that L got to do something fun and exciting on her vacation. She opted to go for a horse ride at Kurtz Corral. She got to ride a horse named Levi in an arena and feed it treats before and after the ride.
I think her favorite part, though, was wearing these awesome cowboy boots. She wanted to take them home.
We spent the afternoon swimming for a while, then went shopping to some of the towns farther north. B opted to stay home and play computer games. We had previously found him a new Door County hoodie to wear to school, replacing the one he has which is getting small on him. I think finding that was enough shopping for him. We stopped at an art gallery where we had a coupon for a free $10 print. It's hard for me to pass up something that's free. Little I did know when we walked in there that Andy would find a big print of a lighthouse that he had to have for his office. We'll consider that his souvenir. It is nice, though. Best part was meeting the artist, George Burr, in the shop and being able to talk to him about his paintings.
We had dinner on the patio at Shipwrecked. We go every year. It's one of B's favorites, but the service is lousy. At least the surroundings are nice. After dinner, we went back to the room to grab the camera so Andy could try to get a nice sunset picture. While he was shooting pictures, L took our leftover hotdog and hamburger buns to the pier with the hopes of feeding ducks. We didn't see any ducks, but there were some kids fishing. She started talking to them and suggested they use her bread as bait. The did, and were able to catch a crayfish. L was so excited. L dumped out all of her bread and let them put the crayfish in the bread bag.
They also let L fish a bit, which she had been begging to do the whole week. She had a crayfish take her bait but when she went to pull it onto the pier, it fell off.
In all, the girls caught four crayfish to put in the bag. Everyone was gathered around watching them. It was pretty neat. We'd all be quiet as the fish was near the bait and when the girls would pull it up, everyone would cheer. Then, if it fell off, we'd all sigh. It sounded like a golf tournament on TV. Here's B and me leaning over to watch all the excitement:
And here's the excitement everyone was watching:
