L’s first gift

How sweet is this? L was working Saturday when a child colored this seahorse and gave it to her. It was her first gift from a guest.

Taco night

Last night was supposed to be the church's women's retreat but it got postponed until May - damn Covid. Anyway, my friend L hosted all of us displaced retreaters at her house for a taco dinner and Netflix movie, "The Lost Daughter." I brought Mexican Chocolate Chip cookies, essentially regular chocolate chip cookies with cayenne and cinnamon. The cookies were tasty; the movie was strange.
And I had a bit of a hard time finding August when I got home. He was partially hidden by my blanket and the room was darker than it appears in the photo.

Princess Diana exhibit

Allison and I braved the snow yesterday to see the Princess Diana photography exhibit at Oakbrook Mall. Fortunately, the streets were pretty clear by time we left home and the snow was stopping.
We had headsets and an audio guide that described each photo.
It took us about an hour and a half to wander through all the rooms and listen to the photographers' descriptions of the photos.
In addition to Diana, they had lots of photographs of William and Harry and their families.
Silly photo opp.
This area was inspired by the royals' hats and the sculptures are made of paper.
This huge tiara ...
made of paper and sparkles.

Heavy snow

This snow was predicted for Indiana but the storm shifted. We were expecting an inch or two. Instead we woke up to heavy snow and as of 8 this morning it's still coming down. At least it's a pretty, fluffy snow.
Andy shoveled and said there's at least four inches of snow. Apparently we could get another three to four inches before it stops this afternoon.

Summer cocktail

Andy and I saw a billboard the other day advertising Patron tequila, which E's BF D gave us for Christmas. One of the cocktails festured was tequila with pineapple juice so we tried it. Would be perfect for a summer day.

Too cold

Aigust has the right idea - stay snuggled ip in a blanket today. The high temperature was 14 yesterday and is expected to be 12 today. Should warm up to almost not freezing tomorrow.

Enjoying the parks

While we were shoveling away 3-4 inches of snow yesterday, L was enjoying her day off in Animal Kingdom with friends.
She said it was cold outside - around 32 when she woke up - but apparently never too cold for L to enjoy a Mickey ice cream bar.
And this is the "Finding Nemo" puppet show.

Snuggly snoozing

Not sure how August is comfortable like this ...

Costco puzzle

L gave me this Costco puzzle for Christmas. I had a lot of it put together working for an afternoon (it's only 500 pieces) and while Andy and I were watching the first two episodes of Season 4 of "Ozark," B finished it. The puzzle is pretty funny ...
Look at the size of that pizza slice!
Of course they had to include the huge teddy bears and Squishmallows, which made me think of L.
Not sure why there's a goose on the tires though.

Friday night fun

L went to Magic Kingdom last night with some friends.
Her artsy pic.

How cute is this?

One of my FB friends sent this picture of her daughter and L from when they were in preschool together. I think this was May 2007 when they were 4 years old. She said to send L her best for a successul Disney program.

An old-fashioned

Andy and I went to the local BBQ restaurant Wednesday for their $5 burgers. (Usually $14.99 AND it came with fries.) What a deal ... and sooooo good. After our dinner, Andy ordered his first-ever old-fashioned. It was pretty tasty too.

First day on the job

L sent this picture of her uniform Wednesday morning, ready for her first day on the job. (I did ask for another that shows her face lol.) We thought she'd be at the marina but she'll be checking to make sure people who want to use the Yacht and Beach Clubs' pools are actually staying in the resorts. She texted later in the day and said she might have the eaiest job on Disney property. And since she's there till August she might get trained to work at the marina too. She also met the general manager at the resort today.
And more socializing at Flamingo Crossings - they went to a Hannah Montana movie night Tuesday.
And this morning she won this fanny pack from a backstage van that rewards and thanks cast members. She chose a magnet off the van and it had a green sticker on back, meaning she won a fanny pack. It's cute ... for a fanny pack.

Birthday margaritas

After dinner last noght Andy and I went to Riverside to meet Allison for some belated birthday margaritas. The full moon was peeking out from the clouds when we arrived.
Cheers! Guava margarita for Allison, classic for me and jalapeno for Andy. We also had chips and salsa and the waitress said the salsa wasn't spicy. She was wrong. The decor is all Day of the Dead, black lights, marigolds, etc. Very nice.

Cats together!

The cats usually they don't sit together and, if they do, they move when I pull out my phone. This took me and B five attempts.
This only took three tries to get them both to look at me.

Andy’s 55!

Andy had three days to celebrate his 55th birthday.
I made lemon chicken tacos for dinner Saturday and finished it off with fried ice cream dessert. The candles stuck in the ice cream much better than they do in a cake!
Making a wish.
The celebration continued Sunday. Andy and I went out to do some shopping and ended up at a brew pub in Villa Park where we split cheese curds for lunch. We didn't want a big lunch because we were going out later for his birthday dinner.
We went out to dinner and brought B with us. We had a yummy pizza at Lou Malnati's. Got there and didn't remember that they're checking vaccination cards and IDs now. Andy and I had ours but we had to go back to get B's card and ID. We still were able to beat the dinner rush. Not sure what he has planned for today but it's a work holiday so that's something to celebrate.

L gets her ears

L had her Traditions session yesterday. She got her ears, Mickey showed up ...
and she got her 50th anniversary nametag!

Taking down the tree

We took down most of the Christmas decorations before we left for Disney. Today we took down the tree and manger scene. August will have to find something else to chew on.

Warm enough

Good thing I cleaned the soda ice from the trunk of the car when I did. It was already 35 degrees at 7 Thursday morning and Schubert came to visit. He only goes out when it's warm.
And last night L was hanging out with friends in the complex's hot tub. She said it was cold. The air temperature was 69.
