Scat, cat!

Doesn't August look like he knows he's somewhere he doesn't belong?
Finished despite many, many delays by an attention-seeking cat.

Condo improvements

E and D aren't wasting any time making improvements to the condo. They painted the kitchen cabinets Sunday.

No eggs?

Guess I won't be buying eggs today at Walmart.

Friends from home

After work Saturday, L went to the All-Star Music Resort to visit and have dinner with her church friend, R, who's at Disney World for a few days with her family. She sent this picture of the two of them. I first saw it on my phone and when I looked at it closer I noticed it was taken in a restroom. Really, L? I asked for a better picture and she sent this:
Nice to see R's mom, my friend M, was able to see her and chat for awhile. It was her second visit in a month with friends from home.
Here they are on the bus. L can't get into Magic Kingdom as a CP because its too crowded for spring break but she asked if she could get in the park to watch the fireworks with R. They said no, as expected, so L went home and R stayed to watch the fireworks.

E’s a home(condo)owner

E closed on a condo in Issaquah on Friday! This was the first unit she bid on but it didn't appraise out and the homeowner wouldn't budge on the price. She kept looking and then asked about this unit again (on the advice of our church Realtor friend J) and found out the price was dropping a bit. She bid again and got it.
It's a two-bedroom unit. She has lots of plans to change things, including the fireplace eventually.
Her first project will be to paint the cabinets.
Here's the bf/painting helper checking out the new place.
Everything is very white ... for now.

Blending in?

Even with all the stuffies we've piled on E's bed it's still a preferred sleeping spot for August and Muffles.

Lucky E

E's apartment building had a National Puppy Day event Wednesday, Azula got her picture taken and nails trimmed (for free) and got a treat and a toy. By the time I saw the toy, a turtle, she had already chewed off its legs.
Then yesterday E found out she won a gift basket from the event so Azula got more toys (hopefully tougher ones) and treats, a couple little blankets and a seatbelt for the car.

Letter ‘S’ puzzle

This 1,000-piece puzzle is taking some time. Everything in the puzzle starts with the letter S. And August is definitely making it harder. He's Sitting and Staying and Slowing my progress.
B helped me finish it.

Growing for three weeks

My Aerogarden tomatoes are looking good. There are two plants in each hole. Not sure if I should trim one away from each or let them grow.
Basil looks good and the parsley is growing.

Second Lenten activity

Andy and I went to church last night for a soup supper and second Lenten activity of the season. This one focused on trust.
The kids were so excited to play around with a ping pong ball and hair dryer. It was fun just seeing how excited they were.
And we decorated cookies.
My cookie. So much sugar.

First day of spring

Crocus are blooming ...
Schubert stopped by ...
and my Easter decorations are out.

Church wine and cheese night

Guess what I made for the church women's wine and cheese event last night - chili sauce and grape jelly meatballs. Made the house smell like a holiday.

Stocked up on gel

Andy's been having a hard time finding his hair gel in local stores. They didn't even have it on Amazon. We googled it and found it in stock at Rite-Aid, a drugstore E has on the west coast. He had to order enough to get free shipping so he ended up with 10 hair gels (the maximum you could order), Safeguard soap (in beige, his preference) and a bottle of nail polish remover for me. That should last him a while.

L’s Friday night

Pool time with coworkers, Domino's Pizza and watching the new Pixar movie, "Turning Red." She's wearing her new prescription sunglasses from Zenni.

Groovy, Hershey

I saw these at the grocery store and couldn't resist - Hershey's Kisses wrapped in tie-dye foil? Cool.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

St. Patrick's Day sunrise as Andy went into work.
My St. Patrick's Day decorations.
Andy took this picture of the Chicago River dyed green.
And L had a nice day off yesterday with her Oak Park friends, A and N, who are in Florida for spring break. They spent the day at Universal Studios.

Fun at Epcot

L and friends were at Epcot the other day for the Flower and Garden Festival. She had some tasty treats:
A purple lemonade (she had two) ...
and a chocolate raspberry tart.

Cute but trouble

August decided to lay on my puzzle (again) so I went back into the living room hoping he'd go somewhere else.
And then he did this (yes, a few slipped down the vent) ... and then he left.
By some miracle I found all the pieces!

E’s one block wonder

E's latest project is a one block wonder quilt. She took fabric panels of frogs ...
cuts them into strips, rearranges them and comes up with a quilt that doesn't resemble the fabric panel. She was at our church retreat, probably when she was in high school, and several of the women were working on their own one block wonder quilts. They took time to explain to E what they were doing and showed her how to cut the strips. That certainly sparked an interest in her.

Easy emissions

Andy and I picked up the Verano from Allison's house yesterday to get its emissions tested. It started right up!
Drove to the Addison testing site and there was no wait. And the car passed!
I sent this to L as Andy was parking the car back at Allison's. L said she misses it.

Fancy night out

Our church friends Gloria and Bruce invited Andy and me to the 20th anniversary of a preschool and counseling center (Smart Love) they support. The event was last night in the Mid-America Club on the 80th floor of the Aon Building downtown. We arrived just in time to see the sunset over the city.
Cocktail hour featured these pretty gin drinks.
Andy and Bruce talking.
Gloria looking over the items in the silent auction. Andy put bids in for a few items but we didn't win anything.
The view to the south. You can see the face fountains in Millennium Park and the Field Museum.
Look at this fancy salad with all the greens wrapped in a cucumber slice. I gave the cucumber to Andy.
We both had the chicken for dinner and it was really good.
They had a short program during dinner and a live auction for a few items. The audience played a game of heads or tails. You put your hands on your head or tail and the emcee flipped a virtual coin on his phone. I was one of the last four standing and had to go on stage. Last man standing won a restaurant gift card - wasn't me.
I liked how they stuck the "20" in the dessert.
