July 4th

Andy and E got up early today to play 18 holes at the Alpine Golf Course. Andy shot 110 and E shot 104. I think he's getting used to his daughter beating him. :) They both agreed the views of the bay and of the bluffs from the course were spectacular.

While they were golfing, B, L and I walked to the harbor and did a little shopping. We swam in the resort pool and sat outside to watch Egg Harbor's July Fourth Parade. People had lawn chairs and blankets sitting along the route when I was out with the kids earlier that morning so we were a bit surprised we found a spot so easily by our resort. The parade started at 1:30 p.m. and we were sitting near the end of it.

One of the highlights was a few of the band members from the University of Wisconsin-Madison march band playing. Everyone around us stood up when they rode by and started clapping to the Wisconsin fight song (at least I think that's what it was).

We were a bit surprised to see the Stanley Cup in the parade. At least, Door County's replica of it.

We had dinner at Casey's BBQ. When we got there the hostess told us we would have to wait an hour and a half for a table. I wanted to go; Andy wanted to stay. He won out. Luckily, they sat us in about 10 minutes, with no explanation. The place wasn't even that busy. Hmmm. It wasn't the best barbecue I've ever had and Andy thought his ribs were dry. The kids had chicken fingers ... in a barbecue place ... really. We then headed to the harbor to try to get a picture of the three kids to possibly include in our Christmas cards this year. Here they are goofing around like they're going to fall into Green Bay.
