B's belated b-day

B turned 18 while in Japan so we had to delay his birthday dinner. We did get to celebrate a little before he left. The other day he showed me this card that all the students on the trip signed for his birthday. He said he was one of three students who celebrated birthdays while in Japan. I thought it was nice since he wasn't traveling with kids from his high school, but rather a Chicago high school and most of the kids met him for the first time at the meeting just prior to the trip.

So we finally went out for his birthday dinner last night. He chose to go to Pizano's, a pizza restaurant in the trendy River North area of Chicago. We had never been there before. When we walked in, it looked like a small bar, but the hostess led us to another room. We could feel the table vibrate every so often and figured that was from a parking garage under where we were sitting.

I took this picture of Andy and L to try to show off the decor. There were red and white lights everywhere and lots of Bulls and Blackhawks memorabilia.

Andy and his boy. We had a deep-dish Canadian bacon pizza with sausage on hal and L had a meatball sub.

This was the view on our walk back to the car. You can see the Hancock Building.
