Dad's Day at UIUC

Andy and I drove to U of I this morning for Dad's Weekend. (L had to work). We only stay for a day because all the hotels in the area are booked and the rates are jacked up. Andy was thrilled when the odometer on his Buick his 25,555 and was disappointed I didn't take a picture (really?) so here's the odometer at 25,600. Not as exciting, he said. We picked up the kids and went to buy jeans. We found B two pairs of Levi's and E found a pair of jeans. Mission successful. We went to lunch at HoHut.

B is studying for his second actuarial exam he'll take on Wednesday so we dropped him off at his dorm after lunch. I took this picture on the street alongside his dorm and while they were out of the car for a minute, two guys in a golf cart came by and said we had to move - the Marching Illini were coming through to get to the football stadium. Hmmm. Well, they'll have to wait another minute because I'm getting a picture. Andy forgot to take his sunglassess off.

The weather was so much better than last year. The quad was beautiful.

E didn't want to go to her sorority's tailgate party, but she did get Andy the sorority's Dad's Day shirt.

I thought this would be a cute way to show off the back of the shirt. Still hard to see ...

... so I took this one.

This is just proof that I was there too.

Andy saw this in the bookstore in the Union. It was labled Swedish red fish - his favorite - but they all different colors mixed in. He was disappointed. He expected more from a college store.

After E walked us all over the quad and a greater part of Champaign (just kidding) we stopped in at Legend's for a beer and a chance to use the restroom. You do what you have to do. And the football game was on TV and they ended up beating Minnesota. After one Illini touchdown, the guy at the table behind us yelled, "Where's your gopher now?" It was pretty funny.

One last stop after we got E back to her apartment. We had to drive through Dairy Queen so Andy could get his Pumpkin Pie Blizzard. Around Christmas time he'll buy an Eggnog Blizzard and then he's done with Dairy Queen for the year.
