Japanese gifts

The mail carrier delivered this (very heavy) package today from Japan - gifts from Mayu's family for our Christmas.

She showed us these origami boxes her mother made.

They're so cute. I wonder how long it takes to make an origami box. Mayu said she doesn't know how to make them. I think we need to see a video from her mom. L would love to make some.

These are called leaf chocolates. I wasn't sure if that meant they taste like leaves, but when I opened one up ...

... it was full of little chocolate leaves, with a bit of strawberry flavor. Delicious!

And Mayu's box contained some snacks to share with us. Not sure what these are but they both have cheese in them. Hmmm. She must be realizing we like cheese ... and lots of it.

A pile of gifts from Japan under our tree.
