Sightseeing

Our Japanese student, Ai, arrived last night. E took her over to the high school to see the final performance of Les Miserables. This morning, she gave us all gifts - chopsticks and T-shirts from Japan - and a bag of snacks for the family. L put her shirt on immediately:

Today, we took her downtown on a sightseeing tour. We went up into the Willis Tower (she wasn't one to step out onto the glass ledge), then we went to Daley Plaza to see the Picasso and stopped briefly at Macy's.

We drove to the Field Museum campus and fortunately found a parking place. We got out to take a few pictures of the skyline, but it was really cold and windy by the lake.

From there, we headed to Lincoln Park and decided to go the zoo since it has free admission and we found free (!) parking - not a easy thing in Chicago. We finished the day at Pizzeria Uno, giving Ai her first taste of Chicago-style, deep-dish pizza. She liked it! Had to snap a picture of L in the souvenir store at the bottom of Willis Tower in this pizza hat:

Tomorrow they're off school for Pulaski Day and are planning to head downtown with their fellow students on the El and go to the Museum of Science & Industry followed by lunch and shopping on State Street.
