Day 2 in DC - Sat., May 25
Julie was at conference sessions all day today so Allison and I headed into the mall and had breakfast at Union Station before touring the Postal Museum. It was really interesting. And there's a post office in it so I was able to buy some postcard stamps.
My selfie with Ben Franklin, founder of the post office.
From there, we walked to the Smithsonian's American History Museum. We saw a display of First Ladies' inaugural dresses - these are Laura Bush's, Hillary Clinton's and Michelle Obama's dresses.
Nancy Reagan's controversial White House china.
Bill Clinton's saxophone.
On special exhibit was Dorothy's shoes from "The Wizard of Oz." We also saw Julia Child's kitchen. I didn't take a picture though. Hmmm. So much to see in that museum that it could take days to see it all.
Allison and I in front of the White House.
Vendors with Trump's "Make American Great Again" slogan on it. No thanks.
We had some time to kill so we went into the Women's Art Museum. It was about a half hour before they were closing so we didn't have to pay admission and they let us walk throughout the entire museum.
Not sure what this is, but I liked it.
Funny card in the museum's gift shop.
Julie met us at Union Station for a Monuments by Moonlight tour. Among the monuments we saw:
The Jefferson Memorial. We drove by but never really got a good look.
The Martin Luther King Jr., Memorial
The Korean War Memorial
The Lincoln Memorial was very impressive and so crowded.
And our last stop was the Marine Corps War Memorial.
