Day 1 in DC - Fri., May 24

Allison, Julie and I made it to Midway Friday for our 6 a.m. flight to Washington DC. Here we are on the plane getting ready to depart Chicago.

We took the DC Metro to the Washington Hilton on Connecticut Avenue and checked in early so we could do a little sightseeing on the mall. All of the train stations were so large and clean ...

... but the escalators to the trains were long and steep. This was our stop, Dupont Circle, about three blocks from the hotel.

Allison and Julie look at the map to see where we should go first.

In front of the Capitol.

We didn't have a lot of time to explore so our main stop of the day was the National Association of Letter Carriers Union Headquarters. They gave us a tour of the entire building and let Allison sit in the bosses' chairs.

Julie had a reception at night for the convention she was attending, so Allison and I found a Mexican restaurant near our hotel for dinner.
