Class of 2017

Today was B's graduation day. We sat out in the stadium and it was hot, 92 degrees and sunny most of the time with a very little breeze. Here he is accepting his diploma from his counselor. They gave every graduate a bottle of water to carry. I had frozen water bottles that thawed while we were sitting in the stands, long before the ceremony started. They said the class had 825 students. B's graduation was hot, E's was cold, so we're expecting a beautiful 70-degree, overcast day for L's graduation in 2020.

Here he is shaking the superintendent's hand before going back to his seat.

At the end of the ceremony, they did a class cheer. We finally got to see their faces!

My boy with his diploma.

We had a hard time finding B after the ceremony. L left the stadium to use the restroom and was able to find him in the see of graduates and families while Andy, E, Allison and I roamed the field, texting both of them. B was searching out friends in the crowd and posing for pictures.

I love this picture of him with one of his best friends, IR. They've known each other since kindergarten.

This is B with friends from his Japanese class ...

... and L had to have her picture with one of the girls she knows.

When we finally met up with B, we had to get a few pictures. Here he is with Aunt Allison, his godmother.

Us with our boy. We were all wearing baseball caps in the stands to keep the sun from burning our heads so our hair is a mess.

Siblings. We left when security was telling everyone to leave so they could clean up the field. We went home to change into more comfortable (not sweaty) clothes and drove downtown for dinner at Maggiano's.

There was some confusion over which server had our table so they gave us the appetizers we ordered for free. The waiter even offered to take a picture of our table.

And since they knew B was celebrating his graduation, they brought over two plates of lemon cookies for dessert, one with "congrats" written on it in chocolate and two candles.
