L had a pile of books from her English class sitting on the table and when I asked her what she was going to do with them, she asked if she could burn them. I'm pretty sure she thought she was being funny, but since they had been annotated and therefore can't be donated, and she didn't want them any longer, I said sure. Anything to get them off my table. So she and her friend, N, took two of them to the back yard and burned them. What an interesting way to mark the end of her freshman year.
