On Tuesday, Oct. 1, we left Philadelphia and went to Chocolate World in Hershey, Pa. I'd been there before with the family and although the bus driver kept saying we were going to visit the chocolate factory, I knew they didn't allow tours there. Maybe, I thought, because we were a group we'd be allowed inside, but no such luck. We ended up at Chocolate World where the closest you get to being in a factory is this simulated tour.
However, you get chocolate at the end so it makes the ride worthwhile. Cindy and I did a lot of shopping there, finding chocolate souvenirs for the kids. We had a chocolate sundae for lunch.
Cindy found a Kisses hat in Chocolate World so I had to take her picture. Fortunately she didn't buy it. And she was right - Lindsey said she liked it when she saw the picture.
I had known for a few days that the information the bus driver was broadcasting over the bus' speaker system wasn't accurate and had to laugh when he identified the famous Hershey Hotel as a high school. Do a little research, please. It would have been nice to hear about Milton Hershey, founder of the chocolate company. He was a really interesting man. When Andy and I went there we visited the Hershey Museum, which would have been a nice addition for this group.
Tonight was our last stop before heading home. We slept at the Comfort Inn in Zanesville, Ohio, the same stop we made on the first night of the trip, Thursday, Sept. 26. Of the three hotels we stayed at, the beds were the coziest here.
