Food truck rally
Last fall, one of our church members brought an idea to the council to host a food truck rally in our parking lot. The trucks pay the church to participate, then sell their gourmet food from noon to 6 p.m. B, L and I were manning the youth group's water stand and doing a bang-up business.
Of course, we all had to try the food. Fortunately, we were there at 11 a.m. to set up and the trucks were ready to start selling at 11:30 a.m. so we were able to sit with some fellow Pilgrims and eat before the event technically started.
E, B, and L each ordered a custom-made grilled cheese sandwich (though B's didn't have any cheese - just ham, bacon and pickles). Andy had a big burrito and we split two tacos, one beef and one pork. It was a chilly, overcast day and we were all hoping people would show up. Here's the tasty pork taco:
And the crowds did come. At about 12:30 p.m. B waited in line for about 20 minutes just to buy a Mexican Coco-Cola. He was waiting in this line at the grilled cheese food truck. It will be interesting to hear if they announce at church tomorrow how many people attended the event.
