Ms. E goes to Washington

E left this afternoon for her Girl Scout troop's trip to Washington, D.C. They'll spend the night in Elyria, Ohio, then be in Washington tomorrow. They're renting a vacation house at 3800 East Capitol St. NE. The main reason they're going is to help lay 1 million plaster bones on the Mall to raise awareness of genocide. It's part of the Gold Award project for one of the girls in her troop.

On Friday they'll tour monuments and sites around the mall, Saturday they lay the bones and Sunday they're going to Georgetown Cupcakes which is featured on the TLC show "DC Cupcakes" and walking around Georgetown University. Monday and Tuesday will be more sightseeing including the International Spy Museum (never heard of that but sounds intriguing) and Chinatown. They'll leave DC Wednesday and try to find a hotel near Toledo, Ohio, for the night. Last I heard they've had no luck finding enough cheap rooms. She should return home before 3 p.m. next Thursday. I've told her to take lots of pictures. We'll see whether she does.

B was home, took a break from his video-game playing and came upstairs to give E a hug before she left. L was outside playing with the neighborhood kids, but saw us as E was driving away. L came up to my passenger-side window and reached out to give E a hug, which didn't work well from the passenger side. Then L grabbed E's hands and gave her a kiss. Aaaww. Maybe these kids really do like each other.
