Party prep and Wordi Gras

This morning's tasks were going to pick up popcorn for the party, running to the grocery store and then to a party store to get balloons. We made it back in Worden around 11 a.m. to wait for the Wordi Gras parade to start that afternoon. Wordi Gras is Worden's self-proclaimed redneck version of Mardi Gras. The people-watching was terrific.

Darla posed with the mascot from the Yellow Dog Saloon. Too bad her eyes are shut.

Most of the floats were throwing out beads. It was cold, but we managed to get a lot.

This was my favorite float. A stag deer that farted confetti. (I told you it was a redneck event!). The peple on the side of the float were dressed as Stag beer cans. Pretty cute and all in good fun.

And this was interesting ... not sure what else there is to say.

Here we are with our beads! Does it look cold? We were cold. We had to leave to get to Staunton a little after 4 p.m. to pick up the cake, cupcakes and cookies, and fruit, veggie and cheese trays.

This was us taken from a video that a friend we know from high school, who was in the parade, posted on Facebook. We got pizza for dinner and took it to Darla's house to eat. We had plans to go back to Wordi Gras to hear some band plays but we were too tired. We're not as young as we used to be.
