Since E returns to college tomorrow, we decided to celebrate Andy's 50th (!) birthday early with a family dinner at Maggiano's in Oak Brook.
We have enough leftover food I won't be cooking dinner tomorrow.
The waiter surprised us with this plate of lemon cookies. We didn't even mention that it was Andy's birthday celebration; he just set down the plate and asked us what we were celebrating. And then he lit the candle and made us sing Happy Birthday. At least it wasn't embarrassing like at those restaurants where the whole waitstaff gathers around, clapping and singing.
