Back to college

You can't leave to go back to college without saying goodbye to the cat.

We were hoping to beat an anticapted ice storm in central Illinois so we left the house about 9:30 a.m. to drive E back. B came with us. It was the first time he's been to the campus since E was in the girls engineering camp. He's been accepted at U of I, but has a couple months before he hears from all the schools he's applied to. We had lunch at a pizza place then took E to drop off her things at her dorm. E did her best to be a tour guide and showed off her room in the school's newest residence hall.

The priorities on B's tour list were to see the quad and what fast-food offerings are available in the Union. Here they were walking to the bookstore where E picked up a few of her books for the spring semester.

It took E a long time to check out because they were having problems trying to figure out how to rent her one of her books. She swiped her credit card three times, then it was coming back as denied because it was swiped too often. I ended up going in the store and paying for the books on a different credit card. Here's L trying to enjoy the cold weather while waiting for E to finish.

B indulged me on this photo. I wanted him to give a "I don't know" gesture to the whole U of I thing. It will be interesting to see how it all plays out.
