Bake sale

E was up early to get to the Farmers Market by 6 a.m. today to work her shift for the Japan trip bake sale. Here she is posing with some fellow seniors who are going on the trip. I helped chaperone the early shift and L decided to come along. There were 10 students working the bake sale so L helped out Andy with the church's doughnut operation and passed out doughnut samples to the shoppers.

She handed one to a police officer who called her by name. We weren't sure whether the officer overheard one of E's classmates saying her name or if the officer somehow knew her. She said he looked familiar.

Here's E writing in Japanese on the bake sale sign. By the time our shift was over at 8 a.m. we had already collected $120 in $20s alone. Not bad for the market being open for just an hour. Let's hope they sell out by time the market closes at 1 p.m. Edited to add: Sensei sent out an email that the bake sale raised $878.61. The money will be used to cover fees in Tokyo (at the end of the trip) such as Tokyo Tower observation deck, museums, train fee, as well as an emergency fee.
