C’mon United

We had a light breakfast Sunday morning with E and D at a French bakery. E had a quilting class at 10 a.m. so she dropped us off at the airport early for our 2:10 flight home. We were able to go into the United Club so we thought the long wait wouldn't be bad. This was red pepper and gouda soup. They also had chicken tacos with all the fixins, cheese cubes, turkey and caprese sandwiches, and desserts.
United kept delaying our flight. They had a maintenance issue in Los Angeles where our plane was coming from. The part they needed was in Denver. Andy was able to talk to the United reps and got us moved to economy plus seats where we had more leg room.
Eventually United gave us each $60 voichers to use on food, no alcohol. Since we had food included in the United Club we spent all but 14 cents on snacks. The cashier in the store was not happy with us as Andy had to type in the numbers for each of the six digital credit cards United gave us, $20 each.
Our flight was finally ready at 8 p.m. The sunset was spectacular because of the wildfire smog. See the mountains? They did give out free beer on the plane because of the delay so Andy had an IPA. They didn't serve any snacks though. I guess we have enough of those!
We landed at O'Hare around 2:30 a.m. Allison picked us up and we were home at 3 a.m. What a long day.
