Local ofrenda & A visit
Someone in town put together a list of homes that made ofrendas (memorials) for Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead, Nov. 2). Andy and I walked around the neighborhood to look at some of them. It was pretty cold outside. Our neighbor a few doors down has one in his front window. This one was at Irving School.
We saw the remnants of trick-or-treating. Lots of people put up candy chutes so they could drop the candy in from the top of their porch and have the kids catch it at the bottom of the stairs. Neighbors were saying the chutes were such a hit they might use them in future years whether social distancing is necessary or not.
A sign of the times - a masked pumpkin.
And here's L with her friend A who went down to visit her this weekend. He's planning to apply to U of I so L showed him around. She said he's sold on it. Now he just needs an acceptance letter.
