Final concert of the year

L had her final seventh-grade band concert this evening. The band played a couple of the songs they'll be performing on their Cleveland trip in a couple of weeks.

Before L's concert, we had a meeting at the high school for B's upcoming bio trip to Florida. Since we were at the high school, E dropped L off at her school for the concert where we met her. After the concert, it was about 9 p.m. so we went to a local pizza place for dinner. They were showing the Blackhawks game and it was LOUD in there. We couldn't hear each other talk across the table.

Concerts

Last night was E's last band concert of the year, and likely of her high school career. In order to take more elective classes, we've decided she can quit band at the end of the year.

L, though, has a few years to go. She played in a concert with the other three schools that will feed into Julian at the middle school tonight. She was sitting in the front row so it was impossible to get a picture of her with the conductor and the band stands in the way.

Jazz night

E had a jazz performance at her middle school this evening, prompting a quick change from her karate outfit to her band uniform (black pants, black shirt and a red necktie). Fortunately, the school is just a couple blocks from her karate class.

E plays piano in the middle school's Jazz Ensemble. Tonight her band, the third and final jazz group to perform, played three songs - "La Noche del Burrito Picante (The Night of the Spicy Burrito)," "When I Fall in Love," "Four Brothers" and "Duke City Stomp." She had a short solo in the burrito song. The Jazz Ensemble performs Sunday night at a local nightclub. From what we saw tonight, it should be a good show.
