It’s been a year

It was a year ago yesterday the World Health Organization declared Covid a worldwide pandemic. L had school that Thursday, it was cancelled Friday and she never went back to high school. I was off from teaching at the nursery school because they were having parent-teacher conferences. I never went back. Soon, Andy started working from home. We stocked up on hand sanitizer and toilet paper and a month later started sewing masks. What a crazy year it's been.
But now, Andy and I have both had shot 1 of the Covid vaccine. Restaurants are opening up. Schools are partially open. B gets to have a walk-across-the-stage graduation individually to get his diploma. E is talking about going back to the office this fall. We don't leave home without a mask but at least we are able to go out. Things are looking up.
And all over town flags have been flying at half-mast since the country logged 500,000 Covid deaths.
