College move-in day
Today was the day we've been looking forward to and dreading all summer - L moved into her college dorm. There was a lot of going back and forth of whether it's safe to be at school this year with the virus but we think she's probably safer there than here because of all the testing they're doing. And she's ready to be on her own.
A big hug from Aunt Allison before we start the journey south.
The Buick is full!
The first stop was the State Farm Center where L went in to get tested for the virus. While she was inside - it only took 10-15 minutes - Andy and I waited in a nearby parking lot. They're making every student take a saliva test twice a week. If they test positive they'll be quarantined. The students will pretty much be in their rooms anyway as the majority of classes are online.
Every student got a personal protection equipment kid - thermometer, a couple of masks (L doesn't need those!!), hand sanitizer, a thing to push buttons so you don't have to use your fingers (which B told us doubles as a bottle opener), and disinfectant wipes.
Here's home hopefully through November - Snyder Hall. It's the same hall B was in for his first two years.
First things first, check out a moving bin.
Trip one up the very small elevator. The building only has one elevator. Hope L gets accustomed to taking the stairs to her fourth-floor room.
B came over to help. Surprisingly, we only loaded up the bin twice to get all of her things up to her room. And everything fit. I thought we'd be hauling things back home. Where's Andy? In the car on a business call that conveniently lasted until we were done moving everything in.
After Andy, L and I grabbed a quick lunch we picked B up and went to get groceries for him and a couple things for L. B ended up with $62 of groceries but said they'll last a long time. Let's hope, kid.
We dropped B off at his apartment and Andy and I took L back to her dorm room. All her hoodies are hung up and pretty much fill the closet.
The room is pretty organized. Her roommate arrives Thursday.
Even her espresso machine fit. She had to send this picture to E who was certain it wasn't going to fit in her room.
A picture of the three of us. She's ready for this. Be safe.
