New Field exhibit

Andy, Allison and I went downtown tonight for the Field Museum's preview of "Apsaalooke Women and Warriors." L was going to go but decided not to, so we took Allison in her place. I sent L this picture and said it was a good thing she stayed home. She would have starved. I wasn't too thrilled with the food options either, but I was a bit happier when I found a cheese tray and chicken kabobs.

Me and Allison.

We heard the curators talk before entering the exhibit.

These are some of the things they had on display in the exhibit. Some artifacts, they said, haven't been displayed in over 100 years.

From the Field's website: In this exhibition, learn about the history, values, and beliefs of the Apsáalooke (Ahp-SAH-luh-guh) people of the Northern Plains, also known as the Crow. Understand and honor the tradition of “counting coup”—performing acts of bravery. From 100-year-old war shields to contemporary beadwork and fashion, Apsáalooke community members tell their stories and share vibrant works of art.
