Japan: First school day

Looks like L's host family made her a big breakfast for her first school day.

And apparently, she found some caffeine at school.

Here's L with her friend, A. Why didn't they have camera filters when I was 15?

Inside the school.

And a nice, big dinner. L said she ate everything.

Sensei's update today said L ate. She's picky, so that's good.

Some of today's report from sensei: Hello, families!! Today was our first day of school and everyone is well, although some students are suffering from jet-lag and fatigue. But they all had a smile on their faces this morning.

All of us met in a room at the beginning. ... Then the head teacher here explained the rules of the school, gave us a tour of the school. We stopped at the nurse`s office because we usually have some students visiting there during our stay. The nurse is very prepared! She had a list of students and the medical information.
After that, students went to some English classes and helped with their activities, like talking to them in English (our students spoke Japanese to them and they spoke English to us), helping them prepare their projects etc. Our students were great!! They were asking Japanese students questions. initiating conversations and trying to really be engaged. Deaton Sensei and I were so proud of them!
They also went to some classes with their host students.

After school, they helped clean the school. ... We just want you to know that your children are doing well and really trying hard to learn new things and pushing themselves to come out of their comfort zone. Very impressive!
