Andy and I were out of the house by 7 a.m. Sunday and on the toad to the Quad Cities for the John Deere Classic golf tournament and a Zac Brown Band concert.
We parked remotely in the lot of a former racetrack and they shuttled us to the golf course in a school bus. It's been years since I was on a school bus. (Staunton's buses were much nicer).
Lots of photo opps with John Deere equipment.
This is golf humor.
Andy indulged me and posed for quite a few photo opps.
He sent this one to his golf buddies. One replied, "Nice form." More golf humor.
He was a good sport.
Aside from the concert, the reason I agreed to go to the golf tournament was to see Rickie Fowler (in the orange). He's my favorite, smaller in person than he looks on TV.
We followed him for five holes. The course is beautiful but it's hilly. It was a bit much for this flatlander. It rained on and off but never for long and they never stopped golfing.
I liked this sign with the ear of corn.
A brilliant way to persuade me to going to the golf tournament was buying tickets with access to a sky deck (where we sat for the majority of the day and during the concert) and access to this air-conditioned club house where the real bathrooms were. No port-a-potty for us.
Another photo opp.
The sky deck was near the 18th hole so when the golfers finished, they walked right past us to turn in their scorecards. After a playoff, this was the winner, Brian Campbell, a U of I grad! I-L-L ...!
Now start the music!
This was our view of the stage.
The concert was about an hour and a half. They sound pretty much like they do on the recordings. Not sure why I can't get my video to load. We got home around 11 p.m.
