Church ladies’ b-day dinner
We had a busy weekend so my table was set a couple of days early for Monday night's church ladies' dinner to celebrate my birthday. I took Allison to get her knee replacement and wasn't sure of the surgery timing when we finalized plans (and wasn't sure what entree to make) so I asked for everyone to being appetizers, like an old-fashioned cocktail party.
But first, let's get that knee replaced. All went well and I was home by 2 p.m. with plenty of time to tidy up.
My contribution were the grape jelly and chili sauce meatballs and a veggie tray with ranch dip. I also made dessert, a Mexican fried ice cream dish. (Andy is looking forward to leftovers). The ladies brought bacon-wrapped dates, egg rolls, cheese and cracker and wings.
It's not a party until wine is spilled! I knew I was taking a chance with a white tablecloth but it was a $2 (or $1?) purchase at a yard sale, and I still have the 12 matching napkins (somewhere!) If the stain doesn't come out, it's not a huge loss.
