Field night … with E
E flew into town yesterday for a weekend sorority board meeting so she was able to come with us to an exhbit opening of "African Fashion" at the Field Museum.
We sat through a talk about the exhibit ...
before getting some food. The little burger was from the kids' station.
The line at the hot food station was long. Usually they have at least two food stations serving on both sides but this time it was one and serving on one side.
The exhibit was OK but not really my thing.

L and T at Disney
L is trying to make me jealous. At least it's been warm here but it's not as warm as it is at Disney. Surprising she and T had a day off together on Tuesday.
She even wore clothes that matched the park.
Olaf! In Magic Kingdom?
Funny girl.
She went to work at Yacht and Beach Club yesterday and walked into a Black History Month celebration. She got to meet Tiana.

Certified
My coworker and I attended three classes at the main library taught by the local community college and offered by the local business association. We learned anout branding, marketing, websites and social media. Yesterday was our last class and we were the only two who attended all three sessions and received certificates.
What was I looking at? Obviously not the camera.

M’s birthday dinner
The church ladies went to New Star last night to have Chinese for M's birthday. I ordered sweet and sour chicken and this was the leftovers. The portions were huge.
The waiter bagged mine up for me and look at this fancy fold. Impressive.
Cheers to the birthday girl!

Clean and shiny
I'm not good about regularly washing my car, but it really, really needed the salt washed off.
We ran it through a nearby carwash. Now, fingers crossed, it doesn't snow for awhile.
Still on council
Andy is done as church treasuer after three years but got "sworn in" yesterday to council as Finance Committee chair. He claims it's just a one-year term.

Bubblehouse Brewing
We both liked this one a lot - Bubblehouse Brewing in Lisle.
They had lots of beers on tap, probably a dozen that they brew, and we liked what we tried. They gave samples of ones we wanted to try, as most breweries do.
The lights are bubble-shaped and they have some clear Christmas ornaments hanging that add to the bubble effect.
They projected a TV on the wall and had another one behind the bar. I was a bit mesmerized by the different colors of lightbulbs.
We moved from a hightop table with (hard) metal stools to a cozy sofa.
I suppose this bathroom light fits into the theme because if you were under water and looking up you'd see trees?
We did grab a couple of these brewery guides to mark off where we've been and where we should go next. If we're in the area, we'd definitley go back to Bubble Up. They don't serve food, but you can order pizza from a nearby restaurant or bring in your own food. And beers on Sundays are $5.

Egg price check
Mariano's on Feb. 22 - $8.49 a dozen.
We thought Costco would have cheaper eggs but when we got there, Costco had none.
Eggs were even higher at Tony's but we found a dozen of cage-free brown eggs for $7.49 so we got those. Breakfast is saved!
Not a Doritos fan
We bought this big bag of Doritos at Costco and had it sitting on the dining room table. Left for run some errands and came home to find that August had torn the bag open. Doesn't seem like he ate too many so we figured he's not a fan.

Disney puzzle
I picked up this puzzle for free on a local FB page and had to search online whether it's a rectangular or circular puzzle. Found out it will be a circle.
Putting the edge together first proved to be impossible so I went with B's method - put areas of the puzzle together and work my way out.
This puzzle has such light (and somewhat warped) pieces that they stick to August's paws and he flings them across the dining room. I had to put parts of the puzzle together several times. If I end up with all of the pieces for this puzzle it will be a miracle.
I guess miracles do happen. It's done and all the pieces were there.

Burgers and music
It had been a while since Andy and I went to Fitzgerald's for its $5 burger night so we went last night and braved the cold (10 degrees but felt like 3 below. Brrr). We decided to sit in the nightclub rather than the restauarant and enjoyed some live music.
The Joel Paterson Trio on stage.

It’s wandering
These are cuttings of my Wandering "Dude" plants I had outside last summer. They certainly are living up to their wandering name.

Weekend wrap-up
Andy and I met our friends Lealie and her husband at Fitzgerald's Sidebar on Saturday night to listen to Rachel Drew. We've seen her a lot.
They were saying it was Galentine's Day so I took a picture with my gal, Leslie, but I had heard it was Feb. 13. Everyday should be Galentine's Day, shouldn't it?
On Sunday we met Allison, Julie and Kevin in Glen Ellyn for drinks and coversation. Andy and I stopped at Goodwill on the way there. I'm not sure what to think of this Biden candle. I didn't buy it but did find a Beachwaver curling iron for $5.
At Two Hound Red Brewing. When we got there the place was pretty empty but it filled up as a jazz band was starting to pkay.

Our third college grad
L graduated in December and her diploma just arrived. We got it the day before the diploma frame I ordered from Etsy arrived. Perfect timing. They had several U of I scenes to choose from and she liked the same one I did - Alma Mater. E and B's diploma frames both have pictures of the quad.
L was all set to fly home for her December graduation but we found out her college didn't have a December ceremony. She could come home for the May ceremony but that's a long way off so I let her order a 2024 tassel in U of I colors. If she does come to walk in the May ceremony, she'll get a tassel with her robe rental but it will say 2025. She also had me mail her E's U of I graduation stole so she can take some graduation pictures at some point.
Allison picked these up for L when she was at Disneyland in California in early October. Apparently, L said, they don't have graduation pins at Disney World. Wonder why?

Valentine’s recap
Andy and I don't usually go out for Valentine's Day and with it being on a Friday this year, we thought restaurants would be packed.
We celebrated early with dinner out on Friday. Andy said a friend told him he was doing the same thing. We're all old married people.
Funny, though, E sent this artsy, somewhat steamy picture of D out for dinner on Thursday too, which was their Valentine's Day dinner. We taught her well.
Beautiful full moon on the drive home. Andy pulled over so I could get a picture but my camera just isn't good enough.
I laughed when a friend shared this on Facebook. So true.
Andy gave me a card and then came home from work (shhh!) with legal-sized envelopes because I realized we were out the other day and some Post-it Notes. Who needs roses? We had dinner at home and watched Saturday Night Live's 50th anniversary music special.
