‘Dressed in History’
Allison and I went downtown yesterday to see this exhibit at the Chicago History Museum. She drove and we were able to park on the street right in front of the museum in a handicapped spot.
I remember the Espirit shirts from the '80s but never had one. The swimsuit on the left is from 1917 and the black one next to it is a woman's swimsuit too, Yes, it was worn at Chicago's North Avenue Beach in 1964 and, yes, the 19-year-old girl got arrested.
A pretty Dior tulle dress from the '50s.
At left is a purple leather Coco Chanel coat from 1925. The dress on the right is from 1963, designed by Cristobal Balenciaga.
This is so 1980s. "This fashion illustration depicts a Kandinsky-inspired women's sweater ensembke designed by Gianni Versace (1946-97) for his autumn/winter 1984-85 collection." I was surprised the exhibit was so small.
Part of an exhibit we walked through.
A doll that survived the Chicago fire.
Allison with the suffragettes.
I found B's neighborhood on this Chicago map. (See the arrow).
Pretty sure our house is under the column.
