Back to U of I
Yesterday, L unpacked from Disney and repacked to go to college. Andy and I went to a memorial service and picked up the Verano from Allison's house so L can have it at school. She had her friends A, N and T over to "help" her pack. That wasn't a good idea and not much got done. This morning, we packed up the cars, she said goodbye to the cats and we left the house around 10 a.m.
L is happy to habe her car back. She drove the second half of the drive and the engine light came on as soon as she turned the key. We pulled over to make sure the gas cap was tight, but it was so we continued the drive to campus with our fingers crossed. The car was running fine and wasn't overheating so we figured we could make it to Champaign.
We made it but the car died once at an intersection. Fortunately, we hadn't yet entered the intersection and Andy was driving behind us. The car started back up and we got to her dorm.
Same room in Bousfield Hall that she had last year. New roommates though.
We dropped the Verano and its key off at the local Buick dealer. Hopefully they'll be able to look at it tomorrow and hopefully it will be an easy fix. The ride down had a couple rough spots so maybe part of the exhaust system came loose?
B came along for the ride but went to visit a friend instead of helping us move L's stuff in. And even skipping out on the hard work, we let him have dinner with us at Papa Del's. We were laughing because the service is soooo sloooow but we keep going back. L said we must have faith that it will improve. It hasn't in seven years. Apparently we're slow learners.
This was as close to a family photo as I could get.
UPDATE: The Buick dealer in Champaign called us early Monday to say they had diagnosed the Verano's problem and determined the solenoid needed to be replaced. I didn't even know there was such a thing. When I mentioned it to E, she knew all about it. Weird. They suggested a lot of other fixes too and we said to go ahead and change the air filter, change the oil and put on four new tires. L should be all set now.
