When we were in
Tower Hill last fall, we bought a huge sunflower head at an orchard. I pulled out some of the seeds and set the rest in the back yard. The squirrels and birds loved it. This summer I came across the seeds and planted a few around the yard. The only one to survive is by the ugly gray box on the side of the house. It's in a great location though - right at a busy intersection and one where kids cross every day to get to school.
I think it brightens up the corner.
The bees like them too.
