Today I had the pleasure of visiting L's second-grade classroom as the Mystery Reader. I checked in at the school office, grabbed Mrs. K's quilt and hid under it in the hallway outside her room. She led me into the classroom and gave the students three clues to guess my identity. Her clues for me were "She has three children - two are students here; she volunteered at the Halloween party; she accompanied the class on the field trip to the pumpkin farm." Our neighbor boy guessed after the first clue!
I was asked to bring a few of my favorite books to read to the class. I chose "Pretzel" by Margaret Rey, "The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog!" by Mo Willems and "If You Take a Mouse to School" by Laura Numeroff.
