Yay, L!

Finally a decision today from U of I!

A few hours later she got a notification that she was also accepted to Purdue. We're still waiting to hear from the University of Central Florida. Choices, choices.

Nothing was on TV last night except the State of the Union Address so we took E and went over to Margarita's for their Tuesday night drink special. E had a mango margarita.

Andy was happy that he finally had someone to share some guacamole with.

We weren't out very long. The girls were out shopping so they came home and made themselves dinner. We did catch some of the speech, at least what we could hear over the girls playing cards.

Belated b-day dinner

We arrived home from Seattle late this afternoon and took B out for his birthday lunch. He chose Fuddrucker's. (We all texted him Saturday for his birthday).

We were happy to hear the temperature was around 80 in Chicago when we landed but the skies were threatening. It was chilly in Seattle and everyone said that's summer in Seattle.

L went to church this morning for the pride service and baked the cupcakes on the right, the ones with the flags in them. She skipped worship, though, and helped decorate the parlor for the fellowship hour instead.

Contemporary art

L went downtown with friends yesterday for opening day of the Museum of Contemporary Art's exhibit of Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. The exhibit runs through Sept. 24. These are just a few of the pictures she took.

Big concert

Tonight was L's choral concert at the high school. The four schools that feed into Julian performed, then the sixth-grade chorus from the two middle schools, then the four schools that feed into the other middle school, then the seventh- and eighth-grade combined chorus, and finally, all of the students together. The auditorium was packed. We weren't supposed to take pictures because some kids don't give permission for that (parents today!) but I figured the faces on this picture are so small no one could possibly identify any kid. L is somewhere in the top left of the picture.

L's sculpture

L came home from school today with her latest sculpture she made in art class. She says it's called "Bird in the Nest." She loves that the bird actually can come out of the nest. Nice work, L!
