While selling Girl Scout cookies last week, E's leader and I got to talking about how heavy the backpacks are at the high school. E carries hers around all day because she claims there's not enough time to go to her locker to switch out her books. E's leader mentioned that because E is so small, like her daughter, I should get a doctor's note requesting a second set of textbooks. She still would carry her textbooks around during the school day, but she wouldn't have to bring any home - she'd have a second set at home. Hmm.
We called her doctor and the doctor wrote the note. We actually weighed E's backpack. It's 19 pounds. She's almost 100 pounds. She took the note to the school nurse and brought home this form to sign. She brought home her extra set of textbooks today. I wish we had known about it sooner.
